My second medical question is, should I stick to buying non-antibacterial soap (for showering, hand-washing, etc.)? I have a "thing" about not overusing antibacterial products, so I am glad to be able to find cheapie soap here that incldues no antibacterial agents.

++++

We'll be in touch about morality, but only obliquely, when we return to finality. But I toss out a "beg off" clause in advance, since I sometimes have no time for online discussions. All things in their time.

Have a good weekend,Codgitator (Cadgertator)https://www.blogger.com/profile/00872093788960965392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7126049.post-35287099995728195032009-11-20T08:07:00.379+08:002009-11-20T08:07:00.379+08:00By all means get the H1N1. Being healthy if you did get the flu you would likely be fine, but the more folks we vaccinate increases the "herd" immunity, thereby protecting the most vulnerable people around you. I've had the H1N1 and seasonal vaccines.

++++

Of course.

++++

No biggie, I figured you had not read it or even seen it as you had not mentioned anything lately.

Supposedly there will be a student debate which I expect will be brutal (for the non-theists). Followed by Carrier, Bob Price, and Vic Stenger vs some local pastors. It should be good, especially since DJ Grothe will moderate. He was born for that sort of thing. He'll keep it civil.GarageDragonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11399828220100913111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7126049.post-63030108341584213452009-11-19T21:51:27.422+08:002009-11-19T21:51:27.422+08:00unBe:

Recently, the govt ordered all students (I think in elem school, at least) to get it. 2. ... Shoot, I forgot again! It will come to me (probably when I'm offline).

+++

Are you saying that people are ends in themselves and so deserve to be "treated well"?

+++

You might want to flog me: the books you so kindly sent me are still in the States. I had a big "transition" a few months ago and needed to hold off on getting any more stuff here for a while. I haven't read Carrier's book. But I would ask him if he's read Ross's essay on immaterial thought.

Best,Codgitator (Cadgertator)https://www.blogger.com/profile/00872093788960965392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7126049.post-18195572369893275722009-11-19T14:13:35.587+08:002009-11-19T14:13:35.587+08:00I don't know what "worldling" means ...I don't know what "worldling" means here or anywhere.

But concerning the songs. When I use the word "morality" I am referring to how I think we ought to behave toward other humans, other animals, and toward ourselves. From my own thoughts and conversations with other non-theists, we mostly agree that were we to become convinced that a good God existed, are behavior would change very little if at all.

Whether or not a God is going to "cut me down" for bad behavior has not bearing on whether I engage in bad behavior. Better reasons are available to be a decent person.

Which is why I am amused by the songs. Suppose you were to become convince that there was no God. Would that in any significant way change how you would act toward other people? I suspect that it would not.

(I realize that you are likely skeptical of there being any such thing as morality, or aughts, or good, or bad without a God; but I'm not interesting in that just now.)

Big shindig for heathens in Springfield, Mo this weekend!

http://broadcast44.com/FSM/media.htm

I'm going with my posse; have any questions for Richard Carrier concerning his book?GarageDragonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11399828220100913111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7126049.post-28552210173443298502009-11-19T12:36:26.623+08:002009-11-19T12:36:26.623+08:00unBe:
