And if only the latter, are they responsible to Science itself?
If the former, does Science itself control scientists in some mysterious super-empirical way?

Thanks for the lead. I stuck my head in that thread, but then stepped back. I'm already over-occupied with thoughts along those lines, so more of the same from a dozen directions would just give me mental heart burn. Gotta keep my already precarious balance, ayuh.
