Where is the race issue by the definition of racism in Western countries? Just a group of haters who mocked the TV show contestant for having different skin color. CNN had no better stories to report on huh? LOL

Try something for me. Start calling black people you meet Mr. or Miss Chocolate and/or Black Pearl. Better yet, become the host of a nationally broadcast pop idol tryout show and refer to black contestant by those names. Get back to me and tell me how that goes for you.

There are always haters, yes, but the point, I think, is that she's the first BLACK Chinese wannabe star on TV and THAT FACT ALONE triggered a massive collective surge of disgust in China. She's not an immigrant. She's not bilingual. She's Chinese... but obviously not good enough to be truly Chinese. The story highlights how far China is from becoming a truly pluralist society, so I think it's an inherently interesting issue. But I might be wrong.

Best,
